Microsoft Defender will now warn users about insecure Wi-Fi networks

Microsoft Defender has expanded its VPN and Wi-Fi security features across multiple platforms. The security software now offers protection for macOS, Android, and iOS devices, in addition to Windows.

Key features include:

  1. Unsecure Wi-Fi detection: Defender can now identify networks with weak encryption that could pose a security risk. It alerts users with a warning notification and offers one-click activation of Defender protection.
  2. Cross-platform availability: The Wi-Fi security detection is available on Android, iOS, and Windows, with macOS support coming soon.
  3. Automatic VPN activation: This feature will soon be available for all supported devices when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks.
  4. Mobile enhancements: Android and iOS users can now activate the Defender VPN directly from warning notifications, providing quick network traffic protection. This feature will be extended to Windows and macOS in the future.

To use these new features on mobile devices, users need to download Microsoft Defender from their device’s app store, log in, and set up privacy protection options.
